# A tour of the editor

> Understand the three panels you will use to build every slide.

## The editor is split into three areas

- **Slide list (left)** — add, reorder, duplicate and delete slides.
- **Live canvas (center)** — a preview of what the audience screen shows, with the join code and QR.
- **Editing panel (right)** — everything about the selected slide, organised into tabs.

## Right-panel tabs

- **Content** — The question, options, images and slide-specific settings.
- **Design** — Text colour, font, and slide background image or colour (see [Slide design](https://engageslide.com/knowledge-base/slide-settings/slide-design)).
- **Audio** — Add background sound or music to the slide (see [Slide audio](https://engageslide.com/knowledge-base/slide-settings/slide-audio)).
- **Actions** — Utilities such as “Clear results for this slide”.

> **Phone preview** — Many slides show a small phone preview so you can see exactly what your audience sees before you present.
