What is Open Ended?
An Open Ended slide gathers longer, free-form text responses. Answers appear as cards or a scrolling feed on the big screen — ideal for feedback, ideas and reflections.

Create a Open Ended slide
- 1On Home, click + Create new presentation (or add a slide to an existing one).
- 2In Choose Slide Type, pick Open Ended. You can also type it into Search slide types….
- 3The slide is created and the right panel opens on the Content tab.
Set up the content
- 1Enter your question.
- 2Choose how responses are displayed (cards, list, or feed).
- 3Optionally allow multiple submissions per participant.

Open Ended settings
Display style
Show responses as cards, a list, or a live-scrolling feed.
Time limit
Give the audience a countdown to respond. Turn on and set the number of seconds.
Hide result
Keep results hidden while people respond, then reveal them when you are ready.
Stop submission
Lock the slide so no more responses are accepted.
Present & share the join code
- 1Click Present in the top bar to put the slide on the big screen.
- 2A join code and a QR code appear (e.g.
36Y56). - 3Participants open the Audience app at join.engageslide.com, type the code and press Enter — or simply scan the QR.
- 4When everyone has joined, the responses start flowing in live.
How the audience responds
Participants type their answer in a text area and submit; you can allow more than one response each.
View results
Responses appear live for everyone to read. Great for gathering qualitative input you can act on immediately.
